Aftercare Is Important!
Do you have an upcoming treatment appointment or do you need to schedule a treatment that we recommended during your last visit? From the time of our youth, we have learned about the importance of following directions. The same applies to directions that we give following the completion of treatment. Whether you have a treatment appointment scheduled relatively soon or you are expecting to need a treatment in the near future, we want to share the importance of following our post-treatment care instructions. Continue reading to learn about the complications you may experience if you don’t follow our instructions.
Why Follow Aftercare Instructions
We treat a number of patients daily with a variety of different treatments. Each person will receive different instructions based on the treatment they receive, and it is important to note that every patient will have a different recovery experience. No matter how you are feeling after treatment, it is important to follow all care and eating instructions. We would hate for our patients to experience any complications that will defeat the purpose of treatment and cause added discomfort and an additional expense when treatment has to be repeated.
Be Mindful of a Numb Mouth
We use a numbing agent during a large portion of the treatments that we offer. It is extremely important to avoid eating and drinking until the numb feeling wears off. Eating and drinking while numb can be very dangerous because it is easy to accidentally bite your cheek, tongue or lip, adding to your discomfort. Biting any of these areas can lead to sores developing in your mouth like canker sores.
