The superstar of cosmetic treatments, veneers are popular among celebrities, models, social media influencers, and anyone who spends a lot of time in the public eye. But they aren’t just for the rich and famous. Veneers can transform a dull, imperfect, or damaged grin into a dazzling, camera-ready, dream smile!
HOW DO VENEERS WORK?
A veneer is a translucent shell that fits over the front of a tooth to cover flaws like chipping, cracking, and staining or to change the shape of the tooth. Fully customizable and natural-looking, veneers are a more durable, longer-lasting alternative to dental bonding.
We recommend veneers to patients who want a more aesthetic smile. They may wish to resolve cosmetic issues such as:
- Permanent staining or discoloration that does not respond to whitening
- Bright white spots
- Visible chips, cracks, or severe wear
- One or more misshapen teeth
Veneers are made of dental-grade porcelain, a highly biocompatible material. Before we place the veneers, we work with our patient to select the exact shape and shade they desire. Each patient has the option to match the current whiteness of their teeth or brighten up their smile with a lighter shade. Once the veneers are fabricated to the patient’s exact specifications, they are permanently cemented on the fronts of their teeth and polished to perfection.
We expect veneers to last 10-15 years on average before they may require maintenance or replacement. To keep them looking beautiful, we advise our patients to maintain a daily oral hygiene routine that includes brushing gently with a soft-bristled tooth brush and non-abrasive toothpaste at least twice a day and flossing every day as well. We also want them to visit us every 6 months for professional cleanings and examinations.
Benefits of Veneers
- Fully customizable and extremely versatile, veneers can create a perfect-looking smile with just one treatment.
- Since porcelain is naturally stain-resistant, patients never have to worry about their teeth yellowing or staining again.
- The procedure for placing veneers is minimally invasive, with little or no discomfort or downtime.
