It’s Time for Your Spring Check-up
We don’t know how you feel, but we are thrilled that spring has finally arrived. Spring cleaning is a popular term that describes a deep cleaning, especially in your home, during this season. It is thought of as a way to create a clean slate in your home after the long winter months. We encourage patients to schedule a “spring cleaning” for their teeth and mouth. When was the last time you and your loved ones visited our office for oral hygiene examinations and cleanings? If it has been longer than six months, then you are due for a visit. Children and most adults should visit the dentist every six months. Those who have certain dental conditions, such as gum disease, are recommended to come more often. When you receive routine dental care regularly, we can be proactive, spot any problem areas in the mouth in the early stages, and treat the problem immediately before a more involved treatment is needed. Unfortunately, dental decay and gum disease do not heal on their own and will continue to progress until treatment is received.
Avoid a Dental Emergency
One of the biggest risks of delaying routine dental care is the increased chance of experiencing a dental emergency. When we clean and inspect your teeth, we are looking for areas in the mouth that may need immediate treatment or will need treatment in the future. When you miss regular dental care, these areas in the mouth will continue to worsen, eventually leading to a dental emergency. With spring and summer right around the corner, we would hate for patients to experience a dental emergency that could have been avoided. Between appointments, we also encourage patients to check their teeth visually and by rubbing their tongue along their teeth and gums to look for irregularities or problems.
As mentioned above, now is a great time to schedule your appointment so you can enjoy the upcoming spring and summer without worry! We encourage you to contact our office, which is located in Burton, MI, to schedule your appointment. We hope to see you and your loved ones soon!
