Spring Cleaning For Your Smile
When was the last time you visited our office for a routine hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been longer than six months since we’ve seen you and your family, now is the perfect time to schedule your next visit. Since we are still in the heart of spring, and many people are cleaning out their homes and preparing their yards for the summertime, we think it’s the perfect time to deep clean your mouth. Read on to learn more about the importance of maintaining routine examinations.
How Often Should You Visit?
We recommend that most of our patients, including our pediatric patients, visit our office every six months for a routine hygiene examination and cleaning. There are some patients, such as those who are receiving treatment and being monitored for gum disease, that we recommend come in more often than six months. Even if you believe you take excellent care of your teeth with your at-home routine, we still recommend regular appointments in our office. No matter how well you clean your teeth, there is still lingering plaque and bacteria that need to be removed, not to mention that we need to check for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. We also recommend that patients who may be starting cancer treatments, as well as those who are planning to become pregnant visit our office for an examination. Either of these circumstances can significantly change the state of your oral health, and we like to have X-rays and data in case a problem should develop.
Avoid an Emergency
With summer right around the corner, you probably have exciting plans, whether you are spending quality time with your family at home or doing fun day trips. We would hate for you or a family member to experience a dental emergency due to an issue that could have been spotted during a routine appointment and quickly treated.
If you are in need of a routine hygiene examination for you or a loved one, be sure to contact our office located in Burton, MI to schedule an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon and hope the rest of your spring is wonderful.
