Importance Of Dental X-Rays
At Today’s Dental Comfort, we do all we can to ensure you have optimal oral health. This is one of the reasons we encourage our patients to visit our office for routine oral hygiene examinations and cleaning appointments. During these visits, we thoroughly clean your teeth and look for problems that can interfere with your oral health. Unfortunately, even if we look closely at the surface of your teeth and gums, we don’t get a true picture of what is happening with your oral health. Because your teeth have so many layers, it is extremely important that we see what is happening inside the tooth as well as your jawbone. This is why we always encourage our patients to receive X-rays any time they come to our office for an oral hygiene examination.
What is a Dental X-ray?
If your body becomes injured, you may need an X-ray to determine if there is an issue that is not visible. A dental X-ray is used in the same way to see the inside of your teeth as well as your jawbone. Dental X-rays can also be used to determine if there are any structural problems or developmental issues with your jaw, teeth, and mouth. X-rays allow the dentist to see any damage or disease that is not visible to the naked eye. It allows us to make an early diagnosis and, therefore, treat any problems as soon as possible.
Uses for Dental X-Rays
In addition to using dental X-rays during routine examinations, we may also require them before, during, and after some treatments. It is important that we are sure we have completed the treatments as expected so patients will make a complete recovery and have success. X-rays are also commonly used to help create treatment plans for orthodontics, wisdom teeth, and jaw problems.
